With the departure of long time sponsor BeasleyAllen, Grant has been hustling to find support for the 2011 ARCA season which opens in February at Daytona International Speedway. With no sponsorship yet for the big race at the high banked Florida track, Grant leased the 09 machine to veteran racer Benny Gordon, from Pennsylania, for Daytona testing and the race. Gordon, a seasoned racer who had never driven on a superspeedway, topped the charts for the 3 days of testing which concluded Thursday afternoon. “I was glad we gave Benny his money’s worth by setting the car up to be competitive for his first superspeedway race. I missed being in the car, but this is a tough business and we are going to do whatever we have to do to be ready to compete at Talladega this spring. Hopefully Benny will take the 09 to the winner’s circle at Daytona and I will do the same at Talladega.”

Nationwide series star Justin Allgaier’s family ARCA team did not have a driver for this week’s Daytona open
test session. Grant was happy to help out his friends from Illinois. Grant drove that car to the top of Thursday’s speed chart, just a few thousands of a second behind Gordon’s Wednesday time. The following article was posted this afternoon on www.arcaracing.com . While Grant and Gordon tested faster than the big money multi-car teams, the most impressive feat was Grant putting cars at the top as car owner/builder and driver of a car he had never sat in before Tuesday.

Speed the Main Thing for Enfinger as Driver and Owner as Final Day of Daytona Test Closes
(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – January 13, 2011) – Yesterday, Benny Gordon drove Grant Enfinger’s car to the lead position on the overall ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards testing chart at Daytona International Speedway. Today, Enfinger put his own name one slot below Gordon’s on the same list.

Enfinger drove the No. 36 Allgaier Motorsports Dodge this afternoon to a best lap of 48.418 seconds (185.881 mph), just four thousandths of a second off of Gordon’s leading time in yesterday’s drafting session. Gordon finished as the test’s overall leader in the No. 09 Enfinger Motorsports Ford, while Enfinger took the session and the second overall spot for the three-day test.

Brian Rose and 76-year-old James Hylton were tied for second in the session at 48.664 seconds (184.942 mph). Joey Licata Jr. and Jason Bowles completed the top five.

Milka Duno, Kevin Swindell, Randy Renfrow, Brent Brevak, and Bobby Gerhart comprised the remainder of the top 10.

With open testing over, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will return to Daytona International Speedway on February 8 to begin preparation for the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on February 12.

Grant, Zac & Jim will pull out of the North Carolina shop this morning, heading to Chicagoland Speedway for testing Thursday. ARCA competitors will take advantage of the day long open test session in advance of next Friday’s nationally televised race. Grant finished 2nd in the 2009 Chicago race, crossing the finish line only 7/100 of a second behind winner Justin Lofton who is now racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“We have worked hard and long rebuilding this car from the ground up and we are ready to get the car on the track and anxious to find out how the car performs. We know that the Chicago race may well be the last race of the season for us and we are determined to put the BeasleyAllen car in victory circle.”

CHICAGOLAND RACE 2009

Grant, Zac and Jim will return to the shop this weekend and make any changes necessary to the car, “nut & bolt” the car (physically touching/adjusting every connection, nut, bolt, weld and installation in and on the car) before loading the car and a backup car, with all necessary tools and equipment into the hauler. They will then head back to Chicago Tuesday evening for the race.

Grant, Zach & Jim are heading back from America’s Heartland to North Carolina, following Monday’s test at Iowa Speedway. Crew chief Howard Bixman and the crew worked hard all day yesterday adjusting the BeasleyAllen.com ARCA car in the only extensive practice session they will have before the July 10th Prairie Meadows Hotel & Casino 200 race. The speedway complex, east of Des Moines, is a world class facility with a smooth 7/8 mile track.

CAR & CREW AT IOWA SPEEDWAY MONDAY

“We will only have a couple hours of practice next Saturday, just before qualifying in the afternoon and the race that night. I had never been on the track before Monday, and we had to spend the time, money and effort to make the long trip to Iowa. The car was pretty good on long runs, but we never could get it loose enough to drive as well as we need. We will review our notes at the shop, and decide on what adjustments we will make before unloading at the track next week. We aren’t as good as we need to be, but we would be way behind if we hadn’t made this trip. I appreciate the crew making this trip which should be rewarded next Saturday.”

The 200 lap race will be televised live in prime time next Saturday July 10th, at 8 p.m. CDT, on Speed TV.

Grant drove his first laps on the 2 mile Michigan International Speedway Tuesday at the ARCA open test session. When the competitors return for the June 11th race, there will be only 2 hours of pre-race practice, making yesterday’s test session crucial to dial in the cars for the 200 mile race. The BeasleyAllen.com car posted the 6th fastest time, of 29 competitors, during the afternoon session, posting lap speeds of more than 180 miles per hour. “The Michigan track is almost as big as Talladega, but relatively flat. While we reach speeds of approximately 205 miles per hour entering the turns, we must back off the gas in the turns instead of staying on the gas like we do on the high banks of Talladega.”

ROUSH YATES ENGINE BUILDER NICK RAMEY UNDER THE HOOD AT MICHIGAN TUESDAY

Grant and other racers experienced “tight” conditions during the test session. “Tight” or “Pushing” means that when the driver turns the steering wheel left, the car fails to respond as it should, causing the driver to turn the wheel more than should be done. If the front of the car doesn’t turn quick enough, the car can head up the track during the turn and hit the wall. That is what happened to one unfortunate racer Tuesday, causing a big crash. “We ran well on new tires, but old tires caused us problems with being too tight. Others reported the same thing, but we have to figure this situation out before return in a few weeks, as we are determined to continue driving the BeasleyAllen.com car to the front.”

Grant & Zach are driving from the North Carolina shop to Michigan Internatinal Speedway today for testing tomorrow at the 2 mile high banked track. Other ARCA competitors will be testing and tuning their race cars for the June 11th race, which will be televised live on Speed TV. Crew chief Howard Bixman, along with crew members Jim & Doug, live in Michigan and will be working throughout the day tomorrow adjusting both the Michigan car and the car which will be run at Iowa Speedway in July.

Grant spent Friday & Saturday in Atlanta, participating in the wedding of his cousin Jonathon King. Grant made a brief stop at the reception Saturday night before heading back to the Charlotte area. He could not spend the evening partying, as he had to be up early Sunday to take the speedway car to a show in Mooresville. RoushYates Performance Parts hosted an open house/car show at its Mooresville North Carolina facility. “RoushYates Performance Parts is our source of high performance parts for the BeasleyAllen.com ARCA car. We know that when we buy components from RoushYates that we are putting the best engineered, highest quality components on the car. Advice from RoushYates has been invaluable. I was happy to help RoushYates Sunday and look forward to putting a RoushYates engine in victory lane at Michigan.”
