Sometimes, a driver’s commitment and passion for auto racing is not as obvious on the track as it is off of it. While most fans see a driver’s dedication at the track, they often don’t realize the effort that takes place behind the scenes to assist in that driver’s success. This weekend, ARCA Series driver Grant Enfinger will be in that position. While this is not the first time that Enfinger will be competing in two races over the course of a weekend, usually the races are regionally compatible. This weekend, however, Enfinger will be competing in two races, at two separate tracks, for two different race teams, in two different parts of the country.

The first race will take place Friday night, June 24th, in Pensacola, FL at 5 Flags Speedway. Enfinger will compete in the 5 Flags Blizzard Series, Late Model Division for Bragg Racing. The second race will be Saturday night, June 25th, at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, IN. There he will compete in the ARCA Series Winchester 200. In between Enfinger will be counting on the help of his family, on time flights, and light highway traffic to assist with his travel plans.

“We are leading the points in the late model series and we are top 5 in the ARCA series. There is no way I would want to miss either race, but I couldn’t do it without the help I am getting from the teams and my family. My sister will be driving me from Pensacola to Montgomery, AL after the Late Model race Friday night. My cousin will be picking me up in Montgomery, AL and will be taking me to Atlanta, GA for the first flight out in the morning to Cincinnati, OH. From Cincinnati, I will be driving to Winchester, IN and arriving in time for ARCA practice and qualifying Saturday afternoon to prepare for the race Saturday night in Winchester” said Enfinger.

Enfinger stated that this double duty weekend would not be possible if he did not have such great confidence in both teams’ abilities to prepare the cars. The Bragg Racing Team has continually done an outstanding job setting up the car at the shop in preparation for the late model races. “The Bragg Racing Late Model was really good in practice on Thursday” Enfinger stated, adding that this was one of the few times he has had an opportunity to practice the Late Model before a race. Usually, he arrives to the track just in time to qualify before a race, leaving little time for adjustments to the car. This season’s collaboration with Allgaier Motorsports has meant that Grant has worked spent more time at the Allgaier shop familiarizing himself with their equipment and allowing the team to become accustomed to his driving style and needs. “The short track program for the Allgaier Motorsports ARCA team has really been our strongpoint so far in the ARCA series” as proven by his second place finish at Salem Speedway earlier this season.

While the public success of this weekend will ultimately lie in the hands of Enfinger’s ability behind the wheel, it wouldn’t be possible without the help of family, friends, and team members. “I am confident in a stellar performance by both teams this weekend. It’s gonna be fun.”

Grant and Zach have been working for the past several days at the Mississippi shop of Bragg Racing, preparing the BeasleyAllen.com Super Late Model race car for Sunday’s Rattler 250 race. That race, set to begin at 2 pm March 7th, will consist of 250 grueling laps around the 3/8 “bull ring” at Opp’s South Alabama Speedway. Grant took the win in the 2008 Rattler but the BeasleyAllen.com car left the track on the back of a tow truck last year, after Grant hit the wall hard coming out of turn 4.

The Rattler 250 is considered one of the top 10 Super Late Model races of the year, and will attract top racers from throughout the southeast. Last year’s winner Augie Grill is hoping to defend his 2009 win and many Snowball Derby competitors will make the Derby their first race of the year. Congressman Bobby Bright will return as Grand Marshall for the race.

Grant & Zach will head to Opp Thursday for a pre-race practice session Friday before qualifying that evening. The race team will focus on the Super Late Model race at Opp and then turn its attention to ARCA testing at Texas Speedway, near Dallas the following Tuesday. After that, Grant & Zach will drive from Texas to the race shop in Charlotte where they will prepare the ARCA speedway car for testing at Talladega March 24th.

Grant returned to Daytona International Speedway last week, not as a driver, but as crew member for NASCAR driver Rick Crawford. Grant helped Rick’s crew prepare for the Camping World Truck series opener at Daytona, before driving back to Charlotte to work on the BeasleyAllen.com ARCA intermediate track car. That car will be tested at Texas Speedway at the ARCA open test session March 9th, but Grant must have that car ready to go by the end of next week. That is because he will be traveling to the Bragg Racing shop in Mississippi to finish preparations for the March 7th Rattler Super Late Model Race at Opp’s South Alabama Speedway. “When the Rattler is concluded, we will head directly to Texas for testing the ARCA car 2 days later. We will be bringing the ARCA intermediate car when we leave North Carolina next week.”

Grant will be making the transition from racing on Daytona’s 2+mile high banked course to the 3/8 mile Opp bullring. The Rattler is considered one of the top 10 Super Late Model races of the year. Grant won the race 2 years ago and crashed out of the contest last year. “I will be drivng the Bragg Racing Snowball Derby car which finished 6th at Pensacola and we are all working hard to make sure the BeasleyAllen Super Late Model returns to victory lane at Opp.” Grant is also looking forward to returning to a 1 1/2 mile track at the ARCA test, as the intermediate car was one of the top cars in each of the races it ran last year. That car posted 2nd place finishes at Chicago & Kentucky, a 3rd place finish at Kansas and was 7th at Rockingham.
