When you see the photo below of the BeasleyAllen.com car, don’t think the car has suffered damage. The left side of the car’s body had to be cut apart to implement a 2010 ARCA rule change. As a safety improvement, all ARCA cars were required to install additional steel plating between the safety bars inside the driver’s side of the car bodies. This requires cutting apart the old body, installing the armor plating and installing a new body panel back on the car. After this week’s test, the car will be painted and lettered for the February 6th Lucas Oil 200 race at Daytona.

Grant appreciates crew members Jeremy, Tom, Thomas & Ben driving to Daytona and helping out a week before Christmas, when each of them could be doing other things. Saturday will allow ARCA racers to make single car runs, with Sunday being the day when drafting is allowed. Grant will be selective in who he drafts with, as speeds will reach 185 miles per hour or more, with cars inches apart. Daytona’s 31 degree banking is more treacherous than Talladega, as the Daytona track is much narrower and the surface rougher than Talladega. Daytona is a superspeedway, but is known as a “driver’s track” as it takes more than a fast car to get around the 2+mile oval.
