Grant mandhandled an ill handling racing car to a top ten finish in the 300 lap Snowball Derby Sunday afternoon. In the biggest late model race in the country, 37 cars took the green flag, but only 13 cars finished on the lead lap. Many of the top racers across the country didn’t qualify for the race, and some late model stars didn’t finish the grueling race which took place on the 1/2 mile track at Pensacola.
Grant’s car was so bad in the beginning of the race that he was 3 cars from being lapped by the leader on 2 occasions, only to be saved by caution flags on both runs. Great pit work by the BeasleyAllen.com crew greatly improved the car, and Grant drove the car as hard as he could in posting his 2nd consecutive top 10 Derby finish, taking the checkered flag just ahead of Chase Elliott, son of Cup star Bill Elliott.
We will send more details of the race in later newsletters. Grant is driving the race rig to Mississippi tonight to swap out cars and pick up the BeasleyAllen.com ARCA car which he displayed in Montgomery recently. After that, he will drive north until the adrenaline wears off and catch a much needed nap in the semi sleeper cab. Tomorrow he will complete the trip back to the North Carolina shop where he wil work on the ARCA speedway car for an important dyno session Wednesday to prepare the car for testing in Daytona the weekend of December 19th.

Last, but more importantly, remember today is Pearl Harbor Day. Thank a veteran for our freedom.
